Welcome to Irish Dance at Rince go Brách!
We’re so excited to welcome you and your dancer to the Rince go Brách family! Below are important guidelines and helpful information to get you started on the right foot:
Class Attire
Irish dance requires strong posture and alignment, so it’s essential that instructors can clearly see a dancer’s arms, legs, and knees.
✅ Required Attire:
-
Short-sleeve t-shirt (school shirts are issued with registration)
-
Shorts or leggings fitted above the ankle (no jeans, please)
-
White socks
-
Irish dance shoes
-
Hair must be tied back and off the face
🚫 Safety Reminder:
Apparel that restricts movement or poses a trip/fall risk cannot be permitted. Dancers who arrive in inappropriate attire will be asked to sit and observe.
👟 Dance Shoes:
For beginners:
-
Girls may wear black ballet slippers
-
Boys may wear black jazz shoes
-
Sneakers are acceptable if dedicated for studio use only
We encourage families to use our used shoe bins to exchange or purchase gently worn dance shoes as dancers grow.
Class Structure
To provide the best learning environment, routine parent observation is not permitted during class time (with the exception of JiggyTots Jr., where grown-ups participate).
We offer designated observation days throughout the year.
Please refrain from interrupting instructors during class. If you have questions, our parent lounge is a great place to connect with experienced dance families who are happy to help.
While class sizes may vary, we ensure each dancer receives attention—with at least two instructors present in most classes.
Home Practice
Irish dance is built step-by-step—consistency is key!
🕒 Recommended Practice: 15–20 minutes, 2–3 times per week
🎵 Need Music? Ask a teacher or another parent for help accessing appropriate practice tunes.
🧘♀️ Stretching regularly also helps prevent injury and reduce muscle tightness.
Even a small amount of regular practice can make a big difference in your dancer’s confidence and progress!
Family Participation
After their first year, dancers may be invited to compete in events called feiseanna (pronounced fesh-anna) or a feis (fesh).
While competition is not required, we encourage dancers to take part in performances, parades, and our annual recital as a way to celebrate their hard work.
💚 We also host several fundraisers throughout the year to support dancers and studio activities. Family participation is essential to their success. Volunteer sign-ups will be shared regularly—please consider joining in!
Class Cancellations
In the event of inclement weather or emergencies:
📢 Notices will be shared via email, social media, and the studio website
📅 Cancelled classes will be rescheduled when possible
Classes begin the first week of school in September. Most dancers begin with one class per week.
If your dancer is sick, please keep them home for the health of everyone.
💡 Please note: Tuition is not discounted for missed classes.
